Below are the final results from the recent election for president. With Tony Thornburg becoming the new President, we now have a vacancy for the office of Vice President (CORE). This position must be filled within 60 days of the vacancy. Notice for nominations for the vacant office will be mailed out to the membership.
The CWA Local 6132 Election Committee counted the ballot today and have completed the Tentative Certificate of Results Form. Tony Thornburg has won the election for President. The results are posted below.
The CWA Local 6132 Election Committee, chaired by Josh Elliott, dropped off the envelopes to the post office yesterday afternoon (7/2/24). Please check your mail in the next few days to make sure you have received a ballot and follow the instructions included. The Election Committee will be checking for returned (not delivered) letters at the Post Office each week until July 25, 2024, which will be when they will count the ballots.
All members should be receiving postcards in the mail with the date and time for nominations. Notices were sent out this past weekend.
We have 60 days to fill the vacancy for President. Notice of nominations must be received between 15 and 20 days of the date set for nominations, so we could not have nominations on our Membership night of June 13th, since that would have been less than 15 days notice. Every effort has been made to ensure that all members are notified of this special night.
Dear Members,
On Friday, May 31, 2024, President Jason Peavler resigned. As of today, June 3, 2024, Jason Peavler will be the Benefits Representative for CWA District 6, replacing Lareronita Ratcliff. Jason had been CWA Local 6132’s president since January of 2015, served as Vice President 1 and 2 before that, Chief Steward before that, and began representing this Local as a shop Steward and committee member early on in his career with Southwestern Bell/SBC/AT&T. He served twice as a bargaining team member for District 6 through two AT&T contracts, as well as bargaining contracts for several of the Local’s print shops. He has been selfless and dedicated in his responsibilities over the years and we wish him the best of luck in his new job. No amount of words can express the thanks we feel for his hard work and guidance over the last two decades.
Please check your mail in the coming weeks for the notice for nominations. The Local plans to have these mailed out by Monday, June 10th. Since we have 60 days to fill this position, the night of nominations will not be during a Membership Meeting.
