CWA Endorses Kirk Watson for Austin Mayor

Kirk Watson has proven himself an advocate for the hard-working employees of AT&T, represented locally by CWA Local 6132, ensuring that the roadblocks hindering our telecom workers were addressed during his term, which enabled better efficiency at handling outages and improvements impacting the residents of Austin. Establishing himself as a voice for Union members, and because of the hard work he has put forward in understanding the concerns that directly affect our daily lives, CWA Local 6132 gladly endorses Kirk Watson for Mayor of Austin, Texas.

STRIKE in District 3

As many of you know by now, CWA District 3 has been on strike for almost a week. The strike affects workers in nine states, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. We don’t have any information other than the public statements made by Union leadership and AT&T’s response. District 3, also known as AT&T Southeast, went on strike and filed NLRB charges due to AT&T not bargaining in good faith. You can read more from a report posted online from CWA International. As of today, August 22, 2024, CWA and AT&T are still meeting with a mediator and District 3 posted an update this morning, which you can read here.

On THAT note, September 6th is when CWA District 6 will begin sending out bargaining proposals DIGITALLY for our members. Please make sure this Local has your current cell phone number and personal email address! We are still missing a few and are working diligently to ensure no one is missed during this important time in pre-bargaining!
